– North Area –

Beginning in the late 1800s, a number of villages have sprouted to the north of the Downtown Charleston peninsula – first supported by carriage roads to the midstate and later along the arterial freeway of Interstate 26.

With enclaves dating back to just after the Civil War, the expansive city of North Charleston has its roots in the century-old planned village of Park Circle, and is also home to a plethora of advanced aerospace and automotive industry, as well as military installations and our international airport.

Almost adjacent to Park Circle is the town of Hanahan, a bedroom community of midcentury homes, planned developments, and waterfront homes.

Established around the 19th century Crowfield Plantation, Goose Creek is also its own city, a self-sustaining suburban enclave with several distinct neighborhoods, including the popular Crowfield golf community.

Wando is a region very early in its development, primed for explosive growth into an unestablished region north of Mount Pleasant.

The heart of Summerville is a wonderful historic town that anchors a network of many residential neighborhoods, often considered a haven of residential affordability.
